I'm totally gonna do some engagement pictures like this! |
As mentioned before on Assassionista, video games have been a huge part of me and DarkSnip3r's relationship. The first time we met, I challenged to a game of guitar hero and ended up winning. He had never met a girl as into video games as him, and I had never met a guy who approved and encouraged my own video game passion.
Assassionista's other nerdy dating posts have been very popular, so I decided to post some nerdy date ideas and inspiration that I've found online:
DarkSnip3r would literally die if we had a video game hero ordain our wedding. We could totally have Commander Sheppard, Master Chief, or Marcus Fenix and both be happy. However, this one is really out there - we'd have to commit to an entire video game theme and I'm not sure we want to.
Avatar cake toppers! Yes please! I so want to do this. We both try to keep our avatars up-to-date with the seasons and how we actually look so ours would be pretty accurate. This is something small (probably only us and our gamer friends would notice) but still very nerdy.
This cake is just beautiful. I'm not that into Mario things but I can appreciate it. I'd love to see more video game cakes, but almost every one of them on google is Mario or Zelda related.
Another idea I saw (couldn't get a picture) was having video game tables. Each table is named after a specific game and each name card is named after a character from that game. For example, in the Pokèmon table you'd have Ash, Misty, Brock, Pikachu, Prof. Oak, Gary, and Team Rocket. I think this is a cute way to incorporate our passion for gaming.
We haven't really decided on too much regarding the wedding, so if you've got any ideas or suggestions please share!
As always,
LadySnip3r
PS. I really wanted to do an achievement unlocked but my free trail of Photoshop ended (I'm so poor :P). But fear not, I will figure out a way to start making them again!

To our bride to be,
Reading this really brought back to the days where I was planning my wedding and at the end,the small things you do to honor your love met more than anything else. I liked your video game table idea and each table is a different character. Before you go on with different ideas, set a budget and make sure your money goes to things you truly want and save where you can. For example, I rented my wedding dress, my best friend cooked the main meal but I wanted really good pics so I had for a good photographer.
I created a basic 3-ring wedding binder where I would rip out pages of those huge wedding mags and carried that around with me to show as samples of things I liked. Like the cake, you can go to your local cake place and show them what you want. I got my cake at Publix and they will create anything you want.
I hoped this helps a bit and keep us posted on your facebook page and let us now how we can help :)
Thanks Sweetcutypi!
That's super helpful, I was thinking about doing something to have all of my ideas and inspirations in - I like the binder idea.
No suggestions for the wedding (I ended up getting married in the town hall in groton, ct.) there's a program called Gimp it's similar to photoshop plus it's free.
I don't really have much insight to the wedding stuff since i avoid it like like the Flood.
But i wanted to say that i absolutely loved the idea for relationship achievements that i yoinked the idea and started sending them to my very nerdy boyfriend who works at microsoft. He started putting them up making all of his co-workers with less gaming supportive female half's very jealous.
I've been using the site: www.technology-ninja.com to make mine instead of Photoshop.
He has two favorites right now:
"Jedi mind tricks don't work during couples fights"
and
"You have earned a drawer at Red Base"
Thank you for this great idea. And good luck with the wedding planning.
@Firefly Haven That's awesome! I love the jedi mind trick one (totally stealing it ahaha). Wow, your boyfriend's got an awesome job. I'll check out that site, thanks!
Since I get no say at all, I will say that I just want to marry you. All else set aside, standing there, saying the words, and locking you to me forever is the best most precious thing I can imagine. Although if you wanted to, our MC for our reception could be Steve Downes (Voice of Master Chief)... I love you baby.
i'm shure you've found this yourself by now, but just in case.

you can find some great geeky weddings on there.
I surprisingly have not! That site is awesome, thanks for sharing!
